my comments on Chairil Anwar

Cemara menderai sampai jauh
terasa hari akan jadi malam
ada beberapa dahan di tingkap merapuh
dipukul angin yang terpendam

This stanza to me is the most beautiful poetic lines in the Malay language. To my view, an overall feeling of sadness envelopes one when reciting it.According to my interpretation,it displays the feelings of a man who believes his time is up in this world but some past doings have given rise to deep regrets.My greatest admiration and gratitude to Chairil Anwar for producing such a beautiful poem.

Islamic state

At the present stage of this world, the current trend and the 'in thing' to do is to be obsessed to the point of insanity, the issue of the Islamic State. This is especially true among orthodox muslims, and majority of muslims are of this category. Well, my contention is that it is an illusion and it is something that has never existed historically.It is a tragic illusion.Why don't you expand your mind and read "Chasing A Mirage" written by Tarek Fatah. I find his arguments very convincing and very well researched.
